Effective risk management does not eliminate risks. However, good risk-management practices, when it comes to car insurance, will have you reaping greater rewards rather than costly premiums.

Common Questions

Can I lend my vehicle out?

The short answer is yes, you can lend your vehicle to another person and your insurance coverage will remain intact. The long answer is - you & your guest driver must be aware of the following.
•    You must agree – verbally or in writing – that the driver may use your vehicle.
•.   You can’t lend your auto on a regular basis to someone without naming him or her on your insurance policy.
•    The person who borrows your auto must be licensed and legally allowed to drive in the province or territory where you both live.
•    Should the guest driver cause a collision while driving your vehicle, your premium may increase.

Am I covered if I drive someone else’s car

If you possess a valid driver’s licence for the province you are driving in, then you are legally allowed to drive another person’s vehicle. Be sure however, that the car you are borrowing has valid and up to date car insurance and the pink slip is in the vehicle.

Does my insurance policy cover me in other countries?

Your policy will cover you in all of Canada. You are also covered in The United States but possibly not for everything you would expect to be covered for, so you should consider getting extra insurance. You are not covered in any other country and should purchase insurance if you are planning to rent or borrow a vehicle.

Do I have to add my G1 driver to my policy?

G1 drivers are required to drive alongside a fully licensed driver with at least four years driving experience in an insured vehicle, so the G1 driver will typically be covered under that driver’s insurance policy.
